Day of the Dead Engraving and Printmaking
Make your own linoleum engraving and prints (grabado) for this Day of the Dead season in Tlayudona.
What better medium to explore the axis between the living and the dead, light and dark, and positive & negative space than the art of engraving & printmaking? Learn about this art form in the context of this sensorial holiday with one of our upcoming young resident artists, Ludwing.
This is a great experience to enjoy amongst friends or family while you sip on some delectable local coffee or mezcal, or even to make new friends with whom to celebrate.
Ludwing is a local artist from Oaxaca whose art is inspired by his traditions and culture. Make sure to ask him about his recent expos and prints–you will not be disappointed!
In this workshop he will give you a brief history and context of engraving and print-making, and then you will create your own design. You’ll get to take home your engraving for future printing, as well as your prints.
Included:
- History and cultural context of engraving around the world and specifically in Oaxaca
- All materials necessary to make your own engraving and prints to take home
- A signed print by Ludwing
- Mezcal or artisan coffee
