Traditional Mezcal: Talk and Tasting
This is an open-air experience utilizing our Covid Protocol. By reserving this experience, you are agreeing to those terms. First and foremost, it’s our commitment to keep our community safe.
This experience is a socio-anthropological account of how women are contextualized within Oaxaca’s burgeoning mezcal industry, followed by a tasting of 3 types of ancestral mezcal. Sósima has invited us to her cooperative´s bodega in her home, where you can taste the best of their palenques without having to travel the 3 or 6 hour journey(s) necessary to reach them.
Sósima, our host, is the president of Fanekantsini Mezcal Cooperative, and works with 8 families in two regions to produce a wide array of the highest-quality ancestral mezcales. The cooperative works to preserve their traditional practices in a sustainable way that is harmonious with village life and the environment.
Whether you´re a connoisseur or a novice in the world of mezcal, this experience will deepen your understanding of this glorious plant and the culture that has sprung forth through its distillation. Join us for this sensory delight, and take advantage of this opportunity to purchase mezcal directly from a master distiller.
This experience is located in Tlalixtac and includes transportation to/from your hotel, home, or central location.
