This experience follows our Covid Protocol as well as the standard protocol of the hosting central location. Please make sure to go over our protocol and to only reserve an experience if you´re in complete agreement with the terms.
This is our newest alebrije-painting experience, designed to fit nicely into a two-hour time block. It was created with our repeat alebrije customers in mind…This way you can enjoy the fun of painting another piece while sipping a mezcal amongst friends without sitting through the full historic and cultural presentation twice.
That being said it´s also a perfect hands-on activity for visitors with less time! You´ll get the basics–color, design, and some anecdotal information about the process that transforms copal into a woodcarving. This experience will launch directly into the practical side of this craft as you paint your piece alongside an alebrije-maker from Tilcajete. You’ll also get to sip delicious local coffee or mezcal while you paint in either Cafébre, Café Revueltas, or one of our awesome centrally-located partnering spots!

What to Expect
Step One: Read our Covid Protocol. If you agree with these terms and practices, write to us and request this experience, telling us how many people are in your small group and what your dates of availability are.
Step Two: Once we’ve found a date that works for our hosts and for your group, we will send you a Paypal request for a deposit for your experience. This deposit is non-refundable. In case of an emergency with our hosts, we will do our best to reschedule with you at a mutually-convenient time. If that is not possible, we will refund your deposit.
Step Three: Since this experience is located in Oaxaca city’s center, it does not involve transportation. We will let you know where your event will be held, although chances are, you’ll get the opportunity to check out Cafébre or Café Revueltas!
