Day of the Dead Vocho Mural Tour
This unique little gem of an experience takes you out in Frida Vochida, which we assume to be Oaxaca’s only vocho with its own Instagram account, to the village of Zaachila to tour some of the best Day of the Dead murals.
Frida’s dad, Tra, who’s a history buff and aficionado regarding things like murals and where all other Volkswagen “vochos” in Oaxaca live, will take you to this Zapotec village about 45 minutes from the city to photograph these artistic treasures.
You’ll start your morning at Tlayudona (#210 C on M. Bravo Street, Inside the Plaza San Cristobal) with some coffee at 9 a.m., at which point you’ll head out to take advantage of the cool morning air. The rest of your morning will see you through the best of Zaachila’s Day of the Dead murals. When you get hungry, you’ll all stop at a local market known for its barbecue and delicious range of nieve (Oaxacan “ice cream”) flavors, amongst other things.
