Tlayudona’s Family Summer Break Experience is a three-day journey into the heart of Oaxaca’s living traditions, crafted especially for curious kids, engaged parents, and families eager to explore together.
🎨 Day 1: Monte Albán and Hands in Clay: Start your day in the pre-Hispanic city of Monte Albán. Marvel at ancient pyramids and panoramic valley views as your group leader brings history to life for all ages. Then head to the iconic pottery village of Atzompa, where your family will join our beloved host Doña Ana and Doña Matea for a hands-on clay experience. Get your fingers muddy while learning about this centuries-old tradition.
🚌 Day 2: Explore Oaxaca Your Way Choose your own adventure with a private transportation day to the destination of your choice. Splash around at the mineral springs of Hierve el Agua, discover colorful treasures in craft villages like Teotitlán del Valle or San Martín Tilcajete, or wind your way through mezcal country. The day is yours—flexible, family-friendly, and full of wonder.
🌽 Day 3: Cooking in the Campo – Tamale-Making Workshop Head out to the countryside to meet Juana, our warm and welcoming host who will guide your family in making traditional Oaxacan tamales from scratch. Pick herbs from her garden, grind ingredients by hand, and cook over a wood-fired comal. It’s not just a meal—it’s an opportunity to slow down and enjoy whole foods, fun processes, and memorable family time.
