Tlayudona is a community-based cultural exchange initiative that partners with Oaxacan hosts to create regenerative tourism experiences that support local economies, preserve cultural traditions, and foster meaningful intercultural dialogue.
Tlayudona works with professors and academic institutions to design educational travel programs and university field experiences in Oaxaca. Our programs connect students with local artisans, cooks, and community leaders through hands-on workshops, cultural immersion, and intercultural learning, allowing theory from the classroom to come alive through lived experience.
We regularly collaborate with universities, research programs, and study abroad initiatives to create customized itineraries focused on topics such as traditional arts, anthropology, sociology, food studies, community tourism, and cultural heritage. Our team includes sociologists and cultural practitioners who work closely with local hosts to ensure that every program reflects authentic community relationships and meaningful academic engagement.
