Engraving Workshop with Ludwing
Make your own prints (grabado) in Tlayudona.
You can’t go more than a block or two in the city center without recognizing how important printmaking is to the local community. It has been a pillar of the popular art movement in Oaxaca, and the aesthetic behind many forms of resistance.
We are pleased to present another in our new series of collaborations with emerging Oaxacan artists in this engraving and printmaking experience. We love giving visibility to talented young artists and the stories behind their art!
The best part? If you’re a solo traveler and don’t require translation, you can book this experience just for you.
Ludwing is a local artist from Oaxaca whose art is inspired by his traditions and culture. Make sure to ask him about his recent expos and prints–you will not be disappointed!
In this workshop he will give you a brief history and context of engraving and print-making, and then you will create your own design. You’ll get to take home your engraving for future printing, as well as your prints.
Included:
- History and cultural context of engraving around the world and specifically in Oaxaca
- All materials necessary to make your own engraving and prints to take home
- A signed print by Ludwing
- Mezcal or artisan coffee
