Let Fer Be Your Cultural Host…
Our native host, Fer, is an experienced host in Oaxaca. He is multi-lingual and can offer you Spanish or English services, as well as teach you a bit of Zoque, his first language. He has received guests from all over the world, and is especially great with new language-learners. He´s accustomed to speak slowly with beginning-level Spanish speakers, and his own experiences in Germany and other countries have instilled in him the patience that one only acquires when they realize how hard learning a second language can be!
Where Would You Like to Go?
Fer has a list of tried-and-true experiences that he offers, but is also ready and willing to go off the beaten path. He has intimate knowledge of the city and many of its outlying villages and can easily arrange a personalized itinerary for you. He is also native to a small village in the Istmo region known for its unique cultural elements and its celebration of what many deem to be Oaxaca´s third gender, the muxes. Fer is happy to take the opportunity to invite travellers to make the several-hour journey to his hometown.
Fer knows a lot about a variety of local foods and cultures, and guess what? Like many of our hosts, he´s well-versed in an additional seemingly-unrelated field as well–veterinary sciences! So if you´re looking for the inside scoop on anything animal-related in Oaxaca, we have your guy.
The sky is the limit with Fer´s guidance in/around Oaxaca. Foods and markets? Textiles? Mezcal? Mushrooms? Handcrafts? Small village adventures? Urban cultural explorations?
