This is a food-meets-Spanish-acquisition experience, in which we’ll do exactly what its name implies–take a visit to Tlayudona’s closest market to learn about regional foods and talk to some of the local vendors.
Fer, Jacob, or one of our native Oaxacan guides and Spanish teachers will walk you through this sensorial feast.* Have you tried tejate? Chapulines? Now´s your chance. Practice your conversational Spanish as well with our guides, or learn some new vocabulary. Tlayudona´s neighborhood market is the perfect size to get to bask in new tastes, sights and sounds, without being overwhelmed by the bustle of some of the busier markets.
Samples will abound, and if you sign up for this market trip and our “Spanish Immersion: Food Preparation” experiences as a package, we’ll purchase some of the ingredients for the following day’s activity. Spanish language-learners of all levels are welcome to participate.
